Vehicle Yardshunter
Our vehicle yardshunter course trains people in your business to manoeuvre and direct an articulated vehicle both forward and reverse in a straight line and to both sides. Candidates need to have a minimum of a category B on their driving licence.
It can also act as a valuable course for candidates on “warehouse to wheels” type programmes by training candidates about articulated vehicles before they undertake driver training, allowing you to assess their aptitude for the role as professional goods vehicle driver.
The course will protect your business by preventing injuries and fines caused by vehicle movements.
The course covers the following:
- Responsibilities of a yardshunter
- Safe systems of work – the operating environment
- Daily vehicle checks
- Theory of articulation
- Coupling & uncoupling
- Forward manoeuvres
- Reversing manoeuvres
- Arm/hand signals
The course is assessed at the end and candidates are required to complete a theory test and a practical test in order to successfully pass and obtain an RTITB accredited certificate. There is a maximum of 3 people allowed on this 3 day course and it can be delivered on your premises or at our Instructor Academy in Telford, Shropshire (near Shrewsbury and Wolverhampton). The course is applicable to tractor units and trailers or Tug Masters and trailers.
The 3 day course is £2109+VAT when delivered at the RTITB Instructor Academy or £1875+VAT, plus instructor travel and subsistence when delivered on your premises.
