RTITB has launched a new forklift operator Refresher training edition of its innovative eTruck UK online learning platform. This keeps candidates safe by removing the need for face to face training in many cases, and gives employers a permanent way to save hundreds of costly training hours each year.
“For obvious reasons, the Covid-19 pandemic led to a swift uptake in eLearning, but also a keen interest in making it an ongoing part of lift truck operator training,” says Laura Nelson, Managing Director for RTITB, the UK’s leading workplace transport training accrediting body. “While our unique eTruck UK tool was already established for novice counterbalance training, we have now developed a specific Refresher training version, in partnership with MA-System.”
“As infection rates are rising again nationally, our new eTruck Refesher elearning program will help employers to reduce risk and keep their valuable people safe, as training is done online and many candidates will not need any face to face practical training at all,” continues Laura. “Going forward, it also gives employers more flexibility, as well as an opportunity to save a lot of time without compromising standards.”
With the new eTruck Counterbalance Lift Truck Refresher Training, operators and their employers can get a two year RTITB operator registration (NORS) for Counterbalance Lift Truck without doing any practical training as long as they successfully complete the final test, comprising of 25 multiple choice questions. This two-year NORS extension can only be applied once before a full practical course must be undertaken to obtain further RTITB operator registration. This keeps operators and employers within scope of the 3-5 year refresher period recommended by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE).
The new eTruck Refresher Solution includes four chapters of interactive course content that can be completed in around one and a half hours. This is done completely online, so can take place anywhere and outside of usual working hours, rather than in a classroom setting.
Even where there is a practical element of training left to deliver for some candidates, this means that Instructors can now train three operators in the time it would have previously taken to train one candidate, significantly reducing costs for employers.
“Budgets are tight, so this approach decreases the number of operators’ hours lost to training, as we know this can be expensive for employers, especially during these uncertain times,” says Laura. “It also provides a way to deliver a knowledge update safely with no compromise on quality, as well as more options – operators can train when on furlough, while self-isolating, or if travel (or social) restrictions are in place.”
eTruck Refresher elearning is available only to RTITB Accredited partners, whether in-house or as a Training Provider. In-house training teams can receive training licenses within their Accreditation package, giving users lifetime access to an extensive library of safety information that is always kept up to date and can be returned to as frequently as desired.
eTruck Refresher Training for Counterbalance Lift Truck Operators is available from 5th October 2020 and can be pre-ordered now. Training licenses are available to purchase at a special promotional price until 1st November 2020.
