RTITB has been recognised by Government regulator Ofqual to deliver End-Point Assessments (EPAs) for Level 2 Supply Chain Warehouse Operative (ST0259) and Large Goods Vehicle (LGV) Driver C+E (ST0257) apprentices in England.

In 2022, Ofqual (The Office of Qualifications and Examinations) recognised RTITB as an awarding organisation for its Level 2 Express Delivery Operative (ST0103) EPA. This internationally renowned recognition now provides External Quality Assurance for all the EPAs that RTITB delivers.

“We are pleased to confirm we have been successful in the expansion of scope from Ofqual. RTITB is now recognised to develop, deliver, and award End-Point Assessments in three industry-specific areas,” says Nina Lane, Head of EPA for RTITB.

“All our EPAs are now regulated by Ofqual in accordance with the General Conditions of Recognition,” she continues. “So, no matter which EPA our customers need, they can continue to be confident in the quality of assessment that their apprentices receive.”

RTITB has been delivering EPAs since 2019. It is a registered End-Point Assessment Organisation with the Education and Skills Funding Agency (ESFA).

With first class experience in workplace transport assessments, RTITB aims to offer EPAs that will help businesses to develop new talent in warehousing, transport and logistics and meet the specific needs of the industry.

The End-Point Assessment for Supply Chain Warehouse Operative apprentices has two parts. First, a question-and-answer test to assess knowledge and behaviours. The candidates then undertake a 60-minute practical test in the workplace (or a training centre simulation).

LGV C+E apprentices undertake three assessments, each comprising several components. There is also a multiple-choice question test and an interview. Plus, a practical assessment which comprises of journey planning, pre-use checks, and a practical drive.

The practical assessments have been devised so that apprentices can demonstrate that they have the skills set out in the apprenticeship standard.

To give employers flexibility, the tests can take place on the same day or can be split over separate days. Successful apprentices will achieve a grade of either a pass or a distinction.

“Our assessments are designed with subject specialist experts and with the apprentice in mind,” Nina says, explaining that RTITB has a special online platform to support apprentices. This includes workbooks, mock tests, and other resources to help them prepare for the EPA.

“There are many subsectors that apprentices may be working in. Roles vary massively between different companies too,” says Nina. “Our unique approach helps ensure that apprentices have the best opportunity to complete their EPA successfully. And hopefully go on to be valuable, skilled employees within our industry.”
