Perhaps you want to celebrate your own achievements as a training professional. Or maybe you want to recognise the amazing work of your training team or company. Either way, it’s time to enter the RTITB Training Awards.
The Awards, which will take place after the RTITB Safety Summit on 19th September, are free to enter, and are now open for submissions from RTITB Accredited Partners and RTITB Driver CPC Consortium members.
The categories available are:
To give you a helping hand with entering the awards, here are 10 top tips on planning and writing a strong award entry. All compiled by our team, which has entered and won several awards.
- Do – stop and think. Is it an award winning entry?
It seems obvious, but to increase your chances of winning, make sure you are putting your best information forward. Think about all of your highlights over the last year and pick the key achievement. It may not have been the first that sprang to mind, but it will certainly be the one most likely to get you the win.
- Don’t – enter the wrong category
Be sure you have read the category description thoroughly and downloaded the correct entry form. Uploading the incorrect category could mean your entry is invalid or even gets missed.
See the three categories for this year here.
- Do – be truthful
Always be honest when answering each question. We want to celebate your real achievements, so don’t inflate your claims or proof points. Our independent and experienced panel of judges will be able to sniff out any misleading entries and they’ll be discounted.
- Do – provide a powerful summary
The judging panel will have lots of entries to read, so including a stand-out opening is vital. Grab attention by summarising your key achievements. Your overview of the nominee/nominated company should provide a robust, thorough, and compelling argument.
- Don’t – ignore the fine print
Check the entry guidelines to ensure you are covering all the criteria for your category. You should also give the terms and conditions a read as well. You can find them here.
- Do – share results and feedback
It is certainly important for you to share the results you are achieving, such as your pass rates. However, when your colleagues and/or customers share their feedback too, this gives you even more credibility. Pull in testimonials from people who can vouch for the amazing work you do.
- Don’t – ignore the word count
Before uploading your entry, be sure to double-check the number of words. If you have exceeded the required word count, your submission could be invalid.
- Do – proofread
Have a colleague proofread your entry for potential mistakes and typos. Ask someone who was not involved in the project to read your entry. It can help ensure it is easy to understand and that you are capturing everything to tell the story.
- Don’t – write in different fonts and sizes
Using different fonts and sizes makes your entry harder for the judging panel to read. However, there are exceptions for brand names.
- Don’t – forget to attach supporting documents
The entry form will hold the key information listed in the category criteria. But don’t forget that you have the opportunity to attach up to three supporting documents. This supporting information can help to back up your written nomination. Supporting material may include photographs, videos, testimonials, and product or service information (like brochures, for example).
