Yardshunter Instructor Training
The Yardshunter Instructor training course provides candidates with the necessary knowledge and skills to deliver yardshunter training courses in a safe, effective and efficient manner. The course is suitable for delivery on tractor units or tug masters with a trailer. Courses are available at the RTITB Instructor Academy in Telford (UK), on your site, or as remote Instructor training for the theory element of the course.
By the end of the Yardshunter Instructor course candidates will:
- Be able to plan and deliver safe yard shunter training
- Be able to recall and discuss the role and responsibilities of an instructor
All candidates must successfully complete an independent examination to qualify as an RTITB Instructor – an internationally recognised qualification.
Please note: this course does not teach candidates to shunt vehicles.
The Yardshunter Instructor course is suitable for candidates who:
- Have excellent communication skills
- Have a minimum of B entitlement on their driving licence
- Significant experience of shunting
- Have prior training in instructing (if they do not the course duration may need to be extended to cover instructional techniques)

A course for a currently qualified RTITB Yardshunter Instructors who wish to renew their registration.
